Membership is available to purchasers within the Mulberry Hill development in the adjacent Links at Mulberry Hill. This club membership provides to the Mulberry Hill residents opportunities for golfing on its 18-hold championship course that was designed by Gene Hamm, a renowned golf course architect who envisioned and executed (among others) the magnificent golf course at Rose Hill (Myrtle Beach), Beau Rivauge (Jacksonville), Riverbend (New Bern), North Ridge (Raleigh) and Pinewild (Pinehurst)! It doesn’t take the golfer long to realize the excellent quality of the course with its broad bentgrass greens and five lakes that parallel (and sometimes intersect) its fairways.
The course guides golfers through an unforgettable tour of the old homestead for it is is situated parallel to the beauty of the four-mile width of the Albemarle Sound and is under the presence of the towering brick manor house itself, visible in its magnificence from any vantage point. Of particular interest to golfers are the fairways constructed on the North side of Soundside Road, where the player must drive across lakes from low ground to high ground to pitch his ball onto greens of an emerald hue.
Along with championship golf, lot owners who become members of the Links at Mulberry Hill may enjoy the Clubhouse, its variety of social activities, the Pro Shop, a set at the Club’s all-weather tennis courts, or a dip in its wide pool. The omnipresent waters of the Albemarle Sound along the property’s shoreline serve as an alternate site for recreational pleasure.
In close proximity to Mulberry Hill’s soundfront is a deepwater channel large enough to accommodate sizable yacht and sailboat traffic. Residents may follow this course to the main channel, which leads directly into the Intracoastal Waterway, to open up even more opportunities for fishing, hunting, and watersports.
